Sun sign Vs Moon Sign in judging a person's character
According to Vedic Astrology, the Sun represents a person's ego, pride, leadership skills, head, general knowledge, IQ, etc...
In Vedic Astrology, the sign of the Sun is important. But not like the astrology we see in the West. In western astrology, a person's Sun sign is often used to describe what kind of person they are in general. In Vedic astrology, the Ascendant, also called the Lagna, is very important. Rising Sun is another name for the ascendant sign (not exactly the place where Sun is posited but Sun do have a major role to play while determining Ascendant)
According to Vedic Astrology, character profiling is much more detailed, so planets like the Sun, which spends almost a month in a constellation, are not used. Instead, a planet like the Moon is used because it moves much faster, and a Lunar Mansion (birth star or Janma Nakshatra) is checked at a lower level.
According to Vedic Astrology, the Sun represents a person's ego, pride, leadership skills, head, general knowledge, IQ, etc... So, no matter where this planet is, things that have to do with the Sun will be judged by that constellation. If the constellation isn't friendly, these parts of a person's personality might be bad. But again, not every area that the Sun rules over is affected. Sun is weak in Libra, for example. This doesn't mean that everyone born under that Sun sign has low general knowledge and intelligence. In fact, many smart people are born under that sign.
People show their ego and pride to the outside world, so a Sun sign can be a first impression of a person to the world around him or her.
The moon stands for the mind, and we all know that a person's "I am" is based on what's going on in their mind. So a person's Moon sign and lunar mansions tell us a lot more about who they are.
